Taken from Mitchell-Jones et al (1999)  Atlas of European Mammals. This includes western Europe as far east as the border of Russia (though Kaliningrad is included), Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. The Atlantic islands of The Azores, Madeira and The Canary Islands are also included.
