Lizard orchid. Himantoglossum hircinum. Orchis bouc.
Presence in France.
BLUE. Common GREEN Localised ORANGE Rare WHITE Absent or disappeared.
Height. 20cm - 100cm
Leaves. Lower leaves eliptic, appear in winter.
Flowers. Pale grey/green, finely marked with purple spots and streaks, sepals and petals forming a hood, the lip very long twisting and spiralling.
Flowering period. May -June
Soil type. Exclusively calcareous
